My name is Scott Schwertly, and I’ve been revolutionizing business and boardroom presentations for over a decade. But, I didn’t grow up as that guy who was magnetic in front of a room. I was shy. I was awkward. I was the kid who loved Magic: The Gathering and watching Star Trek: The Next Generation on Saturday nights – by myself. Let’s just say girls weren’t lining up at my door. They were leaving messages on AOL People. Haha.
In all seriousness, learning how to master presentations and public speaking has taken me a lot of work. I have failed countless many times in front of audiences. I remember even getting booed at a Keynote. It’s a tough gig, but you have to get up and try again just like anything else in life.
I did it, and so can you.
I hope you are thinking “Well, dang Scott. I want to know more.” Good. I’m glad you are here.
Being a great presenter isn’t about taking an overnight pill. It doesn’t exist. There is also no secret formula. If that existed, we would all be rich and living on Fiji. Great presentations are much harder to achieve.
SO WHAT? WHY SHOULD I BE LISTENING TO YOU?
Because presentations matter. If you think your talent or brains will always save you – think again. The sad reality is that guy or gal next to you may have the skills you are missing. I’ll hire or promote that person any day of the week over the person with fancy degrees, a big head, or impressive vocabulary.
GREAT. WHERE DO I START?
Glad to hear it. You can start by reading my articles here. If you are the impatient type, then check out my online courses. You can start growing professionally and personally right now. And, if you would like to be trained in person, then I would suggest taking a look at my Live Masterclass.
Thanks again for being here. I look forward to getting to know you.
MY BIO (for those who want the stuffy version)
I am the Founder and Managing Partner of Ethos3, a presentation design agency based in Nashville, Tennessee. This means I love slaying the dragon of Death by PowerPoint every day. I’m also the author of What’s Your Presentation Persona? and How to be a Presentation God and creator of Badge, a proprietary presentation assessment tool.
If I am not helping my team with building and designing presentations, you’ll most likely find me in the pool, on a bike trail, or doing a long run since I am a competitive triathlete and Ironman.
I have had the great privilege of working with some of America’s most admired brands. This includes providing presentation design work and presentation training for companies like Google, Cisco, USA Today, NBC Universal, NewsCorp, Carnival Cruise Lines, and many more.
I was mentored for 2 years by Michael Hyatt and I hold a B.A. and M.B.A. from Harding University. I currently reside in Nashville, TN where I live with my wife, Brittney, our son, and Linus, our quirky and very loving bull terrier.
